Clean Energy for the Future (New Wind Turbines!)
Hi All,
This week I wanted to focus on clean energy. We all have heard about it with the world needing to find better ways to reduce our carbon footprint. This includes the adoption of EV's which we are pushing for but this is only one piece to an even larger puzzle. While EV's and other vehicle propulsion is great what about our energy infrastructure for our homes and businesses?
Well we know about solar power, wind power, hydro electric and of course nuclear energy. These are all at the for front of our slow energy revolution. And while I would love to discuss each of these in this post there simply is not enough time to do so. For this post I am going to focus on wind energy.
Now everyone has seen these turbines before:
They are common place almost everywhere. But there are a few problems with these units. First they are big so they take up a lot of physical real-estate, They also have lots of moving parts and are difficult to transport. So what can we do? Well we can redesign them of course. The question is how and what kind of form factor should they take?
Well a company called Aeromine. They have produced the bellow design:
This design uses the venturi effect to help propel an internal generator system using a bladed fan. This allows the Aeromine to be smaller and have little to no moving parts. This reduction in size and complexity allows for an easier to produce system. As well as the ability to place such a system on the side of a building. According to Aeromine these systems can produce as much energy as a set of 16 solar panels. That's a huge gain. Combine this with a solar farm on top of that building and now we are looking at more power generation. The downside to the Aeromine is currently it is not able to follow the wind like the bigger tower style turbines we have today.
Though I believe that this will just be a matter of time before they will work the same way. If you would like to learn more about these systems check out there Website: https://www.aerominetechnologies.com
As well as these videos to help understand the principles behind these amazing systems.
